How To Pressure Wash A Metal Roof
It’s no secret that metal roofs are some of the…
It's in our name, K&N Soft Wash.
Today I would like to answer some common questions that we get about just what "soft wash" means.
What is Soft Washing?
Soft washing is a cleaning technique that uses low-pressure water to safely clean the exterior surfaces of a house. This method also uses cleaning solutions to effectively kill mold, mildew, moss, bacteria, and other microorganisms. We still use higher pressure than you would with something like a hose, but soft washing allows you to dislodge contaminants without harming the surface.
Does Soft Washing Use Less Water?
Beyond saving on water during the first application, soft washing saves even more water by lasting 4 – 6 times longer than standard pressure or power washing. Making it more sustainable for the environment and your wallet. Soft washing only uses approximately 60 gallons of cleaning solution, which is comprised of about 40 gallons of water. The cleaning solution is so effective that it lasts 4 – 6 times longer than pressure washing.
Is Soft Washing Effective?
Soft washing not only keeps your home looking beautiful, but it also increases your roof and house's lifespan, saves energy, and is eco-friendly.
Is Soft Washing Just About Water Pressure?
While soft washing is a cleaning method that uses a low pressure washing technique it is also used along with a mixture of algaecides, bleach, surfactants and water, to safely clean exterior surfaces of organic stains, mildew and algae and is a more sustainable cleaning technique.
What is the main ingredient in Soft Wash Cleaners?
The most widely used is sodium hypochlorite. This is the main ingredient in house hold bleach but used at industrial strengths. The second most common is sodium hydroxide. Also known as lye.
Does Concrete Cleaning Benefit From Soft Washing?
Concrete is another material that can benefit more from soft washing than pressure washing. By the time you notice your concrete slab, driveway, or siding needs a good cleaning it's usually soiled beyond what the eye can see.
Does Wood Surfaces Need To Be Soft Washed?
Yes wood surfaces should be cleaned using soft washing methods. Because of the softness of wood and the possibility of damage we do recommend that you hire a professional to do the work. Professionals such as us at K&N Soft Wash will make sure the proper pressure, cleaners and equipment is used to prevent any damage to the surfaces of your wood whether it's a deck, patio, fence or outside of your home.
